SMOKEY JOE!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Great grill! Gets real hot so you don’t need to use half the coals you think you will! Took me awhile to learn this…It really cooks with very few coals!
Number 2 in 13 years
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is our second Smokey Joe. Our first one started losing the rivets that hold the vents in place. I think 13 years of heavy duty use should say alot about Weber products. We have owned three so far. Buy this for small and quick grilling and smoking. You will LOVE this product. I did the super saver shipping and from the time I ordered to the time it was at my door, three days! Amazon ROCKS!

The perfect size for an apartment porch! Quality made by Weber, sturdy, and easy to assemble.
Best Grill For The Price Range
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Probably the best grill for this price range! Got one for my parents and compares well with my Weber 18″ for grilling! My only nit pick are the legs! You may have to tighten them down from time to time to keep the wobble out! But, back to grilling! This is one nice little unit, burgers and steaks cook up quite nicely! The secret is knowing how to use the upper and lower vents for heat and smoke adjustments! Once you have that down, you can whip up some serious munch with this puppy! Have done some excellent k-bob’s and burgers and steaks have come out just as nicely! Have used Webers hickory chips for smoked meats and the flavor was delicious!
After each use, clean out ashes and you will have consistant bbq! Put a piece of aluminum foil in the ash pan to catch the ashes! Wrap it up and dispose of neatly. To help season the upper and lower grills and get rid of that metal taste and smell, I placed the grills in my oven! Preheated to 325 degs. and baked for about an hour! House stunk like hot steel for awhile, but no metal taste, the first time I used this grill!
Good enough
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Good enough for my purpose, I do not need big industrial size grills to impress people anyway.
I used the grill 3-4 times since I bought it last month.Walmart price is 29.99 plus tax.I wish I bought it at amazon.
I did not know this brand was so famous before buying this.I was about to get a made-in-China grill at half the price.Good that I have not. This works well, easy to operate, easy to clean, sturdy construction. Most important of all it is made in USA.
Smokey Joe Silver is the way to go – Bottom vents matter
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
When I started looking at these grills I almost immediately went with the gold. I figured that the portability was worth the extra 5 bucks, but when I looked further I found that the gold does not have the bottom vents which are a major part of the Weber design. Because of the vents and because I don’t really need the grill to be portable (although it could be easily placed in a plastic bag and transported) I went with the Silver and I have been very pleased with my purchase. It can easily feed four people and I have found that even after I have cooked the first batch i can then cook a second using the charcoal I started with. This is very economical. I also recommend the addition of a charcoal chimney starter as this will save money in the long run through savings on charcoal starter fluid. Happy grilling.
The best deal in grilling….hands down.

The Smokey Joe is the greatest. Easy to use, easy to maintain temperature. This one is a lot better than the 40020 model. That one has the bottom vent on the side as opposed to the bottom and cooks VERY unevenly according to my brother who has that one. You can cook for 4 people on this grill. Ever since I got this, the 22″ kettle hardly ever gets used. The 22 is now used for beer can chicken and company and that’s it! ! ! I find it important to rotate the lid while cooking, which allows the air to blow across all the coals and keeps them burning evenly.
Great product!

Ordered and received this in just a few days…. love my little smokey joe.. with just husband and i here it’s good to have something smaller for just a couple things to cook on there… plus it’s nice because i can wash the grate right in the sink afterwards..and use less charcoal! love it!
Great little grill
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a great grill for anyone with limited outdoor space. Can easily hold 6 burgers at a time, cooks evenly, and easy to assemble. I grilled recently with a bunch of friends and made burgers, lamb chobs, chicken, sausages on it. all the meat came out perfectly. Highly recommend.
Great small grill
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The steel and paint is typical Weber quality, for a fraction of the price of the larger Webers. The leg design is actually better than the bigger Weber kettles. The cooking grate is almost level with the lip of the grill; I prefer that over the sunken grate on the bigger Webers. The cooking grate is very close to the charcoal grate, so will want to make sure that you only have one layer of briquettes (that’s about half a chimney). Or, use leftover charcoal (try killing the fire by burying it in saved ashes). Less charcoal means less cost, smaller carbon footprint. It doesn’t take up much space, and the cooking grate fits in a sink for cleaning. Cooked four large boneless/skinless chicken breasts last night; it could probably fit six. If you have to use the lid, you probably need more and/or better lit charcoal.

My son loves it and takes to every tailgate party he has going to the Chief games
Smokey Joe on the Go
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a great BBQ. Nice and compact. It uses very few charcoal brickettes. It is easy to throw into the car and take on picnics or camping trips. This is a must for those that like to grill. Cleans up real easy.
Beware of the packaging
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The grill is great, however I am disappointed in Amazon. I have ordered from this site for years, and never have I received a package in the original manufacture’s packaging. Any package I have ever ordered from Amazon has been packaged in the brown “Amazon” box. The Weber grill I purchased as a Christmas gift, Amazon decided to use the original box from Weber, versus using the “Amazon” box. This ruined my surprise for my husband on Christmas. No indication at all this package would be direct from the manufacturer. Way to go Amazon.
Totally worth $30
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Good grill, totally worth $30, can grill four burgers at a time but no more, only downside is it’s low to the ground but again, it was 30 bucks so no complaints, also really easy to take with you for camping.
Great little grill

Sturdy grill, portable and great for a tailgate. Can easily grill enough food for four people. Easy assembly. I love this cute little grill!
A great little grill, but not very portable
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a great small grill, but I prefer the somewhat more expensive Weber Charcoal Go-Anywhere, which has more vents and folds up neatly for travel. If you plan to set this grill up on your deck or balcony and not travel much with it, this grill would work well.
Great Grill!

We bought this for our small balcony and it is a great little grill. Highly recommended!

Used it today for the first time. Wish it was a little deeper for a roast I was doing. Prime rib turned out great after a bit of modification!

Love Weber BBQ

I’ve owned Weber Grills for years. I just got my Smokey Joe Silver yesterday, came with a very small chip on the rim, but sometimes stuff happans in shipping. No big deal. I covered the chip (approx. 1/8″) with some BBQ Paint and good to go. After cooking 2 large steaks, the coals remained red for about 6 hrs. everything worked well. Cleaning was a snap. I Have a large Weber grill (22″) that I kept on the front porch of my vacation home (cabin) the Grill has been on my porch for almost 20 years. rain, snow, summer heat. It still looks almost new. with NO rust at all. I’m sure it will last another 20+ years. Thanks Weber.
Smoky Joe Silver is awesome for home use too.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Just fired this little guy up for the first time today and WOW! It cooked fast and even really awesome job. And with the hickory chips I added it evenly smoked my sirloin burgers to perfection! Must be the small dome shape that just works wonders. To break it in I used frozen sirloin hamburgers from Sam’s Club. You can actually fit five of those large burgers on this tiny grill perfectly. When done I justed closed the vents top and bottom and it put out the coals for use later. My large stainless propane grill is now retired. If I’m entertaining I’d much rather have two or three of these little Smokey Joe grills than one large propane grill, no kidding. And three Smokey Joe Silver grills cost far less than that monster did. Oh and btw I’m sure it would be a great camping grill too.
Can’t beat this little grill I highly recommend it.
btw, yes I’m a weber but no relation to the grill company that I know of.
Weber Grill -

The little Weber grill is so convenient! We love it and it cooks great.
Best all around BBQ!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Firstly, don’t buy this if your concerned about dealing with unused coals.
Apparently, a few folks in previous reviews had ” issue’s” with spent coals.
This unit is by far and away the hands down winner of ” Best All Around BBQ “, ” Denver All Amercian Rib Festival 2008,” no doubt, the portability, heat control, award winning form factor, this grill Rocks!
Be careful with heat control, approx. 12-16 hot coals for heat flex cooking. Regulate with top/lower vents. Enjoy
P.S. don’t burn your chicken?
Great Little Weber!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have used the weber twice so far and it definitely works like its bigger brother, allowing me to control the temperature with ease based on the air-flow vents. Suprisingly the work surface is large, though slow cooking with the coals on one side is more challenging because of the small nature of the grill. All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this for apartment dwellers or campers, especially for the price.
Lots of ways to use
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was looking at a very expensive small grill, but it seemed to be more of a roaster than a grill. This grill will roast things, which is recommended for longer times. You simply load the charcoal aways from the center, in two piles, and put the meat in the middle. Actually, some combination of charcoal, in different areas, makes this much better than a gas grill. Plus, the flavor is better than gas.
The grill is solidly built. It is hard to get big flare-ups with this grill with the cover in place. Apparently air is regulated, top and bottom, and it maintains a certain amount of combustion. This is a great feature for burgers (or items with fat). I do them for 5 minutes, turn them, and give it another 5. Terrific. You don’t have to run out and move the burgers because there is a big flame under them, from the fat.
Give the charcoal a long time to burn down. Then it is quite hot.
I like making garlic bread with Kaiser rolls. Put butter and garlic on the rolls, and put them butter down on the grill for maybe 4 minutes.
Silver Doesn’t Mean Second
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The Smokey Joy Silver does everything you’d expect with minimal bells, buzzers or whistles. Easy to assemble, easy to use, easy to maintain & store, and relatively rugged, it just chugs along grilling food with minimal drama (save the occasional flare-up). The main difference between the silver and gold seems to be the gold has a “bucket” handle that flips up over the top of the lid handle, allowing you to lug it to the beach or park. We keep ours on the deck, so I don’t care about lugging. And the free shipping made it a no-brainer. It’s an American classic. Love it.

I love this grill! It is perfect for any apartment dweller and is sturdy and holds up well! Try the real taste of BBQ with this grill!
Bad Product
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The vent at the bottom gets filled with ashes quickly and then there is no ventilation from the bottom, you put the lid on, the coals go out. Not a good design.
I used it twice and now it is sitting in the garage. I am using my rusted to hell old BBQ that came with the ash can at the bottom though the ash can is now gone , I have been unable to find a better product.
Here in Canada I paid $80 for this Weber Smokey Joe Silver BBQ and I sure feel ripped off.
Cheap but Good Product

Weber 10020 Smokey Joe Silver Charcoal Grill, Black – a great product. Beware that it is not designed to be a traveler, but I plan to take it around anyway. Perfect for a family. If you have guests and cooking for many people, get a conventional bigger charcoal grill.
Perfect grill for 2 people!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
For years, I’ve been using a larger 22″ weber grill, but when I moved recently I decided to get one a bit smaller to conserve charcoal. After doing quite a bit of research and reading reviews, I decided to go with this Smokey Joe Silver. It is absolutely unbeatable, and I would have paid double for it without blinking an eye! While it doesn’t have an adjustable-height grilling surface, it’s quite easy to properly place the charcoal in such a way that you get exactly the heat you’re looking for. I’ve been able to sear fish, or slow-cook buffalo wings, just by estimating the charcoal amount and placement. I should also note that I usually use the lump type charcoal, not briquettes, and both work equally well in this grill. Cleaning is a breeze, and so far after using it 12+ times since I got it a couple weeks ago, hasn’t even come close to needing it.
As far as build quality goes, I really like the solid feel of the grill overall, but the legs could stand to be a bit sturdier. They aren’t as weak as some reviewers have said, but it certainly is the weakest point of the grill as a whole. The plastic handle has never gotten too hot to handle, not as some reviewers said. The diameter of the grill could stand to be about 1/4″ larger, to keep it from wiggling around so much when you’re brushing it. The vents constructions seems fantasic, they are easy to open and close, yet stay put when you need them to. Having easy access to both top and bottom vents allows for lots of experimentation with cooking temperatures. I love this grill to death, and I point out that fact to my fiance every time i use it (“see, i told you this thing is friggin’ awesome!”). Even when I buy myself a much larger charcoal grill in the near future, I will still use this grill every time I’m only cooking for 1 or 2 people.
